Vantage Logistics Suite

Overview

Vantage manages freight for a network of regional carriers, and their legacy system couldn't keep up — dispatchers were tracking shipments across five disconnected tools. We consolidated everything into a single real-time operations platform that scales to handle their busiest shipping days without falling over.

The challenge

The core technical challenge was throughput: Vantage's system needed to process tens of thousands of GPS pings per minute from their fleet, while keeping dispatcher dashboards updating in near real time. Their existing polling-based architecture buckled under load during peak season, exactly when reliability mattered most.

Our approach

• Replaced the polling architecture with an event-driven system using Kafka to stream location and status updates as they happen.
• Containerized every service and deployed on Kubernetes with autoscaling tuned specifically to Vantage's predictable seasonal traffic spikes.
• Built a live dispatcher dashboard with map-based shipment tracking, automated exception alerts, and one-click rerouting.
• Ran a phased migration alongside the legacy system so operations never had to stop for cutover.
